Good to know
Frequently asked questions
The things people ask us most — opening times, what we stock and how to find us. If your question is not here, just give us a ring.
Visiting us
What are your opening times?
We are open Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm and Sunday 9am to 1pm. We are closed all day Wednesday.
Where are you and is there parking?
We are at 73 Castle Rising Road, South Wootton, King's Lynn, Norfolk PE30 3JA — just a few minutes from King's Lynn. There is free off-road parking on site and you can pull up close to load heavy bags and pots.
Are you open on bank holidays?
We are usually open as normal on bank holiday Mondays, but hours can change around Christmas and Easter. We post any changes on our Facebook page, or you can give us a quick ring on 01553 672014.
Are dogs welcome?
Yes — well-behaved dogs on a lead are very welcome around the outdoor sales area and in the shop.
Do you have a cafe?
No, we are a traditional working garden centre rather than a retail park — plants, pots, feeds and honest advice, with no cafe or gift hall.
Who we are
Who runs Belford Garden Centre?
The centre is run by the owners Sam, Steve and Sarah, who you will usually find serving on the till or out among the plants. It has been a family-run business here in South Wootton for decades.
Can you give planting advice?
Absolutely. Tell us about your soil, aspect and how much space you have and we will point you to plants that actually do well in Norfolk conditions. Bring a photo of the spot if it helps.
Products & stock
Do you sell Christmas trees and wreaths?
Yes — freshly cut Christmas trees and handmade wreaths are available every December, along with holly, garlands and other festive greenery, while stocks last. Come early in the month for the best pick.
What plants do you stock?
Shrubs and hedging, bedding plants, perennials, houseplants, trees and specimen plants, herbs and vegetable plants, plus pond and aquatic plants. Stock changes with the seasons, so it is always worth a look.
Do you sell pots and garden ornaments?
Yes — a large outdoor display of terracotta, glazed and stone-effect pots, planters, troughs and saucers, plus reconstituted stone bird baths, statues, animals, sundials and benches. New ornaments arrive regularly.
Do you sell compost, feed and sundries?
We carry multi-purpose and specialist composts, bark, grit, fertilisers, lawn feed, weedkiller, canes, pots and general gardening accessories.
Do you sell animal and bird food?
Yes. Wild bird seed, sunflower hearts, peanuts, suet pellets and fat balls, poultry corn and layers pellets, dog, cat, hedgehog and small animal food, plus straw, hay, shavings and bedding.
Do you sell barbecue charcoal and firelighters?
We stock lumpwood charcoal, briquettes, instant light bags and firelighters through the barbecue season.
Can you order in something you do not have?
Often, yes. If there is a particular plant, feed or size of pot you are after, ring us on 01553 672014 and we will tell you whether we can get it in and put it by for you.
Buying & payment
How can I pay?
Cash is preferred as a small local business, but we also accept card payments in store. We are a shop-based garden centre, so there is no online checkout.
Do you deliver?
We are set up for collection, but for larger or heavier orders it is worth asking in store or over the phone — we will always try to help local customers.
Still wondering?

We are happy to check stock, talk plants or help you plan a border.
